I saw a pre-screening of Michael Moore's new movie Bowling for Columbine last night. I heard Cannes invented a new documentary category this year just so they could give it an award. If this were fiction, I'd say Charleton Heston deserves an Academy Award for his role as the leader of a racist paramilitary group. Heston actually says, straight up, that the US has more gun-related murders than other countries (inculding Germany) because it has a violent history and is so "ethnically mixed" - more violent history than Germany???
Marylin Manson's music sucks, but he had some of the more intelligent things to say about the Columbine tragedy. The spookiest part though, was a clip of one reporter telling the story of how the two boys had fantasized about hijacking a plane and crashing it somwhere in New York City.
And apparently 75% of all police shot in the line of duty are shot with their own weapons. Disarming cops could actually save them!
I think I'm going to start voting for Canadians.
"Weapons of Mass Distraction" is a reference to the new war with Iraq. While I do not know any Americans who currently feel threatened by Hussein, I do know way too many who are already broke, without savings, unemployed or underemployed due to the economic situation here inside the United States borders.
