Here's a fun exercise in modern religious and economic philosophy:  Watch an hour of CNBC (or your favorite bidness news show) and every someone mentions "the market", mentally replace it with "God."  

Take a frequently-run commercial for an online-brokerage for example: "I believe in the market.  I believe in me." 

There are prayers, confessionals, and as of late, even inquisitions in the quest for purity.
