sem@code looks like a really neat idea (link courtesy of Smart Mobs). The implementation he describes could be tweaked slightly to make it happen in reality even sooner. Instead of having the camera phone interpret the 2d-barcode, just have it send the image (via email for instance) to a service that can read it. Once the service decodes the URL from the image, it sends a message back to the phone to display the web page. The service could also archive all your scanned bar codes along with time stamps.
